Okay, so maybe you're wondering, what even is influencer marketing? And what is it that makes it so effective? Happy to tell you, we're here to answer all of these questions!

What is an Influencer?

It's actually pretty straightforward! An influencer is someone who has a large impact on one or multiple social media platforms. This is typically measured by the number of followers, likes, shares and comments a user receives. According to LifeWire, a user doesn't even necessarily have to have the best of everything to be considered an influencer. If the user has fewer followers, but amazing engagement on their posts, they still can be considered influencers.

What is Influencer Marketing?

Influencer marketing is a way that brands can utilize influencers on social media to review and promote a product! Rather than sending out a mass advertising campaign to a vast audience, utilizing influencer marketing can streamline your brand's reach. Here's how it works. A company finds an Influencer who they'd like to work with. The company will then contact the influencer and offer a product or some type of compensation in exchange for the influencer's honest review on any number of social media platforms.

What Makes it so Great?

The greatest factor here is the element of trust. This marketing technique is what we like to call, "The Best Friend Tactic" Influencer's reach their fans on a real and personal level. In a way, a lot of their interactions with their followers almost mirror a best friend relationship. Influencer marketing is effective because followers tend to trust the influencer's opinion over direct marketing. In turn, followers are more inclined to purchase and try the product when someone they trust has had a positive personal experience.
