Hey Flutterbies, Alex here! So we've talked to you guys a lot about how effective influencer marketing can be, but where do you start? One of the most professional and common ways of reaching influencers is via an email invitation to collaborate. We know that writing these emails can seem daunting, so we've compiled a list of 4 things you should absolutely include in your influencer outreach email! As a photographer and lifestyle blogger of six years, I've had the opportunity to work with over 200 companies, so I know just how important it is to create an effective outreach email.
1. Concise and Informative Wording
Chances are, you're influencer of choice probably has never heard of your company. For this reason, it's important that your email is not too long, wordy or overwhelming. According to social strategy writer Sasha Galkin, the less cluttered your email is, the better. Stick to your main points. Be sure to address them by name, write a brief explanation of who you are, address what you are offering them, and follow up with your reasons for why the collaboration will be beneficial to them!
2. A Link to your Website and Social Media
Don't forget to include embedded links to your website and social media in the email! It's important to make sure you're influencer doesn't have to go hunt for your platforms. Not including links can make your email look like a scam. In addition, most influencers receive several collaboration emails a day, and often won't take the time to look up your company if you don't provide all of the info in your initial email.
3. An Exact Plan for the Collaboration
I touched on this a bit in point one, but having a plan is absolutely essential. Never contact an influencer if you don't already know the details for how you would like to collaborate. A common invitation I often receive is where a company will offer a choice of any one or more of their products in exchange for me providing pictures and a review on my blog and social platforms. You can also consider offering a special promo code to their readers!
4. A Punchy Subject Line
When I say punchy, I'm not talking cool and creative. Your subject line should tell the influencer exactly what the email entails. For example, if I were to send a collaboration invitation to a company, I would write something like, "Into the Woods Collaboration, " or "Collaboration Opportunity." This type of subject line will be sure to catch your influencer's attention and make them want to learn more!
Reaching out to influencers can be fun and exciting! There's no limit to the possibilities, so allow yourself to think outside the box. I hope this was helpful for you, and if you have any questions, be sure and leave them in the comments below!
Let's get social,
Alex
